Two stories in timely conjunction today. Both concern modern, mass market foods. The ultra-efficient production and delivery system for our edibles is truly incredible. Still, sometimes, things slip. Things like hygiene and quality control. And thereby come the age-old risks of food-borne diseases.
A batch of botched lettuce is being recalled due to concern over E. Coli. Eleven states are affected. Elsewhere, more states are at risk from potentially contaminated eggs – with Salmonella. The good news is the recall. This happens from time to time but is always a little disconcerting. It’s another reminder to practice good cleanliness and to possible consider growing your own when possible.
