Nobody likes the threat of a nuclear war. Fortunately, Americans have been seemingly spared the risk for some decades now. I vaguely remember drills when I was a youngster. For better or for worse, most people in this country have completely written off the threat.
People in Russia are not so foolish. And it appears that they and their government are once again gearing up for potential conflict. Recently, Thomas Grove wrote a good article on the subject at the Wall Street Journal: Russia Prepares for WW3. You may have to have a subscription to read that one.

Russians Take The Risk Of War Seriously
No, they are not preparing for all-out imminent war. But they are prepping for something.
Tension between the U.S. and Russia have run higher than they have since the Cold War lately. Sadly, this is mainly due to the sheer stupidity of U.S. neo-con warmongers.
“If that should one day happen, each of you must know where the nearest bomb shelter is,” a report on the state-controlled network, NTV, noted, before taking viewers on a tour of a nuclear bunker in Moscow.
-Reevell on Russia
While the fools in D.C. and New York babble about the recount and “fake news,” the Kremlin and the Russian media are asking their people to at least think about preparing for war. So, they at least recognize there is a threat.
The Russian military, local police, and civil defense are conducting drills to get ready and help prepare citizens. Bunkers are readied. Gas masks are in stock. And they’re doing in mass what American preppers are ridiculed for doing.
They are getting ready for anything. They are preparing for any threat whether it comes from the air, land, or sea. And they are running various public training scenarios. Much of this is based on potential conflict with the U.S.
Many, maybe most, Russians do not take these measures that seriously. However, at least they are there to consider at all.

The good news here is the election of Donald Trump. Trump has consistently called for peace with Russia. Putin said, immediately after the election, that the two countries should be friends. And we should.
I said nobody wants a war. That’s not entirely true. No sane people want a war. There are, however, a very few nuts in and around Washington that would not mind military conflict. And they are willing to risk our mutual annihilation to have it. Pray for peace, prepare for war, and scorn the warmongering lunatics.
