SAS = (British) Special Air Service, the UK’s elite special forces. They have a deserved reputation for … uh, brutality and efficiency. They have a long history of “dealing with” terrorists – usually with bullets or bombs. So it makes sense to pay attention to their suggestions of how to survive a terror attack or a similar violent street encounter.

Ben Brown from the Prepping Guide ran a great article on seven SAS terror tips. Please give that original and the cited expert your expert attention. Here’s a quick breakdown:

“We can’t always rely on authorities to keep us and our families safe.” Chris Ryan, former SAS.

Sadly, that’s true. So why not learn from the best? Here are the tips, in brief outline form. Read the original for all the details! These tactics should work as well (or better) against the common American street thug as against ISIS lone wolves.

One. Situational Awareness

Know your surrounding and what’s happening. Always.

Two. Don’t Overlook the Cyber Attack

These are becoming more frequent than physical attacks. While not deadly, they can be life changing. Take any and all available cyber security measures now.

Three. A Physical Attack

These now take many forms: guns, knives, cars and trucks, bombs, etc. It really boils down to run, hide, or fight. Be prepared to do all three and know when and how.

Four. The Home Invasion

More of a criminal attack than a terror tactic (unless you’re a high profile target). Be prepared for these most unsettling attacks. Here, in your own castle, you may be essentially trapped. You also have more freedom to go all-out on the attackers. Do it.

Five. The Carjacking

Used by both criminals and Islamic terrorist, this is almost as indignant as the home invasion. Learn how to spot and avoid the attacks. Learn how to escape them. Learn how and when to kill (not wound) the attacker(s).

Six. Vacation Attacks

Like all of the others, above, but where you might least expect it. All too common today, these assaults count on people not being aware, having the guards down. Raise them – high. Situational awareness always.

Seven. Fighting

This should be your last resort in most cases. But if you have to do it, do it. Commit to completely destroying the target. Hard, fast, and dirty! This is the time when violence actually solves problems.

PS: go to YouTube and look for “SAS Iranian Embassy” to see how effective these guys are. What the London police and SWAT couldn’t handle in days, the SAS “cleaned up” in minutes. They know what they’re doing and talking about.

Get Your Game On! Wild Game Butchering and Cooking

Get Your Game On! Wild Game Butchering and Cooking

Well, this one is slightly out of season in the Northern Hemisphere. We don’t start the hunts for a few more months. But, if your in New Zealand, I think Red Stag season opens any day, right? Anyway, today we discuss and present a subject that more preppers and survivalists need to know about if they don’t already. Veteran hunters may stop here and now.

This one is all about cleaning, preparing, and cooking wild game! Bill White at Survivopedia kindly wrote up an extensive guide to game prep. And I mean extensive with a capital “E.” Make sure to read through the original at least once. Save it for when hunting season comes around.

Here’s a quick look at some of what is included:

Picture by White/Shutterstock.

So, this article really isn’t about hunting nor “pure” prepping. It’s about food security. Rural folks will still tell you that hunting and trapping (and fishing) still go a long way toward putting meat on the table. That’s important, especially if you find yourself in a survival situation. Read on:

“Within the prepping community, we see this manifest in how people deal with their need for food. At the beginning, we all start out with building a food stockpile. But as time goes on, we tend to start looking at various ways of supplementing that stockpile, such as raising our own food, foraging for edible plants and hunting.

For those of us who are hunters, it makes sense to hunt for food. But what about those who are not? Granted, anyone who can shoot a rifle accurately can kill an animal, assuming they can find one to kill. That’s the hard part of hunting and the one that will give most post-apocalyptical hunters the most trouble.

The other thing you’re going to have to know how to do is turn that dead animal into usable meat, once you kill it. Killing an animal is one thing, butchering it is another thing entirely. If you don’t do that correctly, the meat could be tainted and dangerous to eat.”

-White

Follow along with White as he discusses:

Hunting background;

Cleanliness;

(He assumes you’ve already brought down the animal);

Cleaning (Gutting and Skinning);

Necessary knives and tools;

Cutting procedures; this gets tricky, “icky” even, read and operate carefully. Perrin will add: watch the bladder and lower GI tract … yeah;

Blood disposition (get used to it);

All about birds (don’t run afoul…);

Skinning techniques;

Butchering (great chart! and more are available online);

Cooking in the Wild (like on the bug out trail);

Smoking (the meat but a cigar);

Jerking (not a Steve Martin movie);

He also includes a video, downloads, and more tips than one can almost keep up with. Many thanks to Bill White*.

*Bill White is the author of Conquering the Coming Collapse, and a former Army officer, manufacturing engineer and business manager. More recently, he left the business world to work as a cross-cultural missionary on the Mexico border. Bill has been a survivalist since the 1970s, when the nation was in the latter days of the Cold War. He had determined to head into the Colorado Rockies, should Washington ever decide to push the button. While those days have passed, the knowledge Bill gained during that time hasn’t. He now works to educate others on the risks that exist in our society and how to prepare to meet them.

Again, you may not need this information for a few months. But, if you get serious about hunting and/or survivalism, then you will need it.
