State of the Union, 2018, Partial American Prepper Analysis

State of the Union, 2018, Partial American Prepper Analysis

So, last night Donald Trump delivered his first Constitutionally mandated State of the Union address to our corrupt Congress. I, not one too fond of fairy tales…, did not actually watch the address. (It’s a habit I’ve tried to break over the years). But, I understand I missed a decent political show. So I did follow up last night and this morning, with video, transcript, and popular analysis.

This was the 3rd-longest such speech in history. Trump, being Trump, tooted his own horn a bit – he has that right. And, somehow, he maintained his position of “America First.”

Please watch the speech/show, if you missed it:

If you’re a word searcher or reader, here’s the TRANSCRIPT.

“Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, Members of Congress, the First Lady of the United States, and my fellow Americans:

Legacy Food Storage

Less than one year has passed since I first stood at this podium, in this majestic chamber, to speak on behalf of the American people and to address their concerns, their hopes, and their dreams. That night, our new administration had already taken very swift action. A new tide of optimism was already sweeping across our land.

Each day since, we have gone forward with a clear vision and a righteous mission — to make America great again for all Americans.

I’m not sure about the “unity” aspect and whether that’s even possible in 21st Century America. But I am glad Trump differentiates between “Americans” and everyone else. There’s a difference, one neglected and abused for so long.

Our enemies caught this distinction and and very angry about it. That’s good. Let them know where we all stand. They were especially troubled by Trump’s masterful rhetoric, which effectively stole one of their pet slogans; he said: “Americans are DREAMERS too.”

“Tonight, I am extending an open hand to work with members of both parties — Democrats and Republicans — to protect our citizens of every background, color, religion, and creed. My duty, and the sacred duty of every elected official in this chamber, is to defend Americans — to protect their safety, their families, their communities, and their right to the American Dream. Because Americans are dreamers too.”

See Vox’s hysterical reaction.

On the whole I think the speech was like everything else in Washington – bloated and needless. However, I found it refreshing that there is at least the maintained semblance of loyalty to We, the People. I have an odd feeling, that semblance isn’t limited to mere words.

That’s good news for all real Americans, preppers and otherwise.
