Winter is right around the corner and Spring always comes next. Most of us are finished with our gardens for a few months. But, now is the time to think about and plan for the future growing season. Now is the time to get the soil ready so the tomatoes can have a happy start next year.
Angela Williams contributed a good post at The Prepper Journal about soil preparation for better tomato growing. Please read and digest (the info., then the tomatoes!).

Everyone loves (or should love) fresh tomatoes. Ms. Williams offers great advice for better growing.
In her original, must-read article, she covers:
Planning the space for the Tomatoes
Much of this centers on finding a spot with ample sunlight.
Getting the Soil Right
Compost radically improves the soil quality, which makes for better, faster production.
Proper PH
The tomato likes mildly acidic PH levels, around 6.2 – 6.8. Get a home test kit or visit with an extension office for readings.
Proper Fertilization
Feed the plants and they’ll feed you.
Toil to Till
Break the soil down as fine as possible for aeration and other benefits.
Hole and Trench Placement/Development
Make the room and give them room.
Williams gives numerous tips for better gardening. Make a list now for things you need to do between now and next Spring. Spend a little time prepping and the growing and harvesting will be just a little easier and more bountiful in the future.
Don’t let the chilly air and ice dull your green thumb.
