Sabres rattle in the Middle East. That’s SOP; but, specifically, this week it’s in and over Syria. Another wartorn country which, if we’re honest, does not concern America. Honest or otherwise, we’re there. The US, UK, and France blamed Assad (and kind of Russia) for a recent gas attack. This is similar to that incident of about a year ago.
The Russians heavily dispute the allegation. They say the US staged the “attack” and it was a lethal crime which happened to have no corpses. It might be funny and speculative if not for the massive implications. Trump, for his part, seems to be playing rhetorical games, maybe without any intention of escalation. Let’s hope so.
